Working with Kirsten Ford Design

I really look forward to working with you (you), the client, on your project.  To ensure you have a clear picture of how we’ll be working together to get the best results possible, below are Kirsten Ford Design’s (I, me) Terms and Conditions and client policies.

By confirming that you wish to move to the the next stage of your project, you agree to accept the terms and conditions set out below which shall apply throughout the project.

I aim to meet or speak with my clients regularly throughout a project - usually at least once a week.  Between appointments, please stay in touch with me with any thoughts, ideas and questions.  I am mostly reachable by email, but you are welcome to call me any time during business hours.  I am away from my desk a lot visiting clients and suppliers, but I will endeavour to answer any messages and emails within 24 hours.

My business hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

You are ultimately responsible for making the final decisions regarding the project. I will of course be sharing my expertise, opinions, offer resources, or make suggestions. However, it is up to you to decide which, if any, to act upon. If you decide to accept a recommendation, it is your choice and you take full responsibility for it. If you decide to work with someone based on my referral, you must know the workings of that relationship will be entirely separate to my relationship with you.

My initial consultation fee is $225 - this is working appointment usually 90 minutes to 2 hours long where we discuss your brief and determine the scope of work.  At this meeting I supply you with valuable information, providing you with clarity and direction for your project.

Once we have agreed a full scope of work, I will price up a bespoke package price for you based on the amount of time I estimate it will take to complete the agreed deliverables for your project.   If you choose to work with me on a package, 50% deposit is required at the start of the project, with the balance due when I've presented all requirements for a project.  If the project takes considerably longer, then progress payments may be required. This will be discussed on a case by case basis.  If anything arises outside of the agreed scope of work and package price, I will charge additionally at my standard hourly rate of $125 plus GST.

If you choose to work with me on an hourly rate this is $125 plus GST and my time spent on your job is invoiced weekly on a Friday and is due within 7 days.

For any purchases ordered through my suppliers, either a deposit or full payment is required before the order is placed.  An invoice will be provided upon acceptance of the quote via email.

All payments are due within 7 days from the date of invoice. Interest of 2.5% per month shall be payable on all accounts not settled by their due date. The interest will be added monthly thereafter from the due date until the settlement is received.

All prices quoted are inclusive of GST, unless otherwise stated.

My preferred payment method is by internet banking to:

One of the added benefits of using a designer is the ability to access product not often available retail, via wholesale and trade showrooms.

The standard margin I charge is between 10 - 20% on either my trade or wholesale price. This does not apply to any retail stores. However, I have negotiated some discounts from selected stores and I will let you know when they apply to your purchases.  In some instances, where I am not making a margin on product, I may receive a small commission from the supplier.

Whilst I will do everything I can to ensure your goods are delivered on time, Kirsten Ford Design cannot be held responsible for delays in shipping beyond its control, including, but not limited to material shortages or transit strikes.

When goods are delivered to your property, please ensure they are checked thoroughly before being accepted and signed for. Kirsten Ford Design cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to items that is revealed after delivery has taken place.

Any orders placed for fabric through Kirsten Ford Design are non-refundable.

If you choose to have items recovered, altered, or repaired, then these must leave your premises at your sole risk.

Kirsten Ford Design will not be held responsible for any fixtures or fittings supplied by you.

You shall ensure that the site is ready for any installation on the confirmed date. You are liable for any cancellation fee levied by the appointed supplier.

At the end of our project, I will ask you to write a few comments of our work together, as an evaluation. It helps me to see what you liked about the process, what results you received overall and anything else you'd like to add.

Often I will share my own informal photos of your project with other clients or on social media to act as inspiration.  I would also be delighted if you would allow me to take my own and professional photography of your project when it's complete.

I use the photographs and comments to demonstrate the products and services I offer, or use them in the form of a client testimonial to share with others who are thinking of taking the next step in creating a beautiful home. Your personal details will remain confidential.  Please let me know if this is not acceptable.
