Grand old lady

Grand old lady

This client took on a labour of love when she purchased this grand old lady. The 1890's villa had weathered over time, and while some period features were still beautifully preserved, a major renovation was definitely in order.  The home is now the perfect blend of heritage details and modern, fresh finishes.

Autumn decor is all about touchy-feely textures and cocooning colours.  The new season releases are full of rich tones and textures to get our homes ready for cooler weather when we spend more time snuggling up indoors.  Here’s my guide to getting your home autumn cosy.

Modern Classic

Modern Classic

This super busy family of five (and all the teenager's friends!) needed a major kitchen update.  The brief: functional but still fabulous. The client was keen to experiment with colour, but still wanted a chic, classic finish.  The result is the prefect blend of classic and contemporary - streamlined, chic and completely unique.

Nail your dream kitchen

Nail your dream kitchen

Planning a new kitchen?  Take note!  In our New Zealand homes, our kitchens are definitely the heart of the home.  More than any other space in your home, our kitchens need to be functional as well as stylish - and that requires detailed planning.  Whether you're building a new home or renovating your exisiting one, these steps will help you nail your dream kitchen.

Statement downsize

Statement downsize

This home is almost totally unrecognisable from the cobweb-clad beachside bach it was when our client first purchased it.  The client was downsizing in scale, but didn’t want to compromise on style.  Kirsten Ford Design completely reimagined the space to create a home as a true reflection of its owner: modern, stylish, well travelled.

The panoramic sea view captured the hearts of these clients.  They saw beyond the nondescript interior to what it could become - a stylish, apartment-style home to be shared at every opportunity with friends and family.

Last month I was fortunate enough to attend Design + Decor in Melbourne.  This is Australia's leading interiors event showcasing the latest interior products and furnishings from Australia, New Zealand and around the world.

What an amazing experience - the interior designer's equivalent of Disneyland!

So what were the four key trends I took away from the show?
